Down Syndrome Indiana Buddy Walk
Scroll down to hear about my experience!
For my service learning project, I worked with Down Syndrome Indiana and their annual Buddy-Walk fundraiser. For this service learning project, we helped the people of Down Syndrome Indiana set up the area where the buddy walk would be. We met up in White River Park and set up tents, chairs, and tables where the registration for the event would be. We got to talk to the ladies in charge of the walk and heard about what they do. Even though I did not get to interact with any of the kids with down syndrome, it was still cool to learn and hear about what their program does for them.
Service learning is definitely something I was not aware of. Being apart of it was super interesting and I was glad I got to participate in. In my own service learning experience, I had the opportunity to help out Down Syndrome Indiana This collaboration not only broadened my understanding of the community but also allowed me to see the direct impact of the efforts that the women in charge of this group put in for these kids.
