Camp Brosius
Scroll downs to hear about my experience!
In May 2025, I attended Camp Brosius, a seven day leadership camp in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. During the week, we were placed into small family groups made up of people we did not know very well, if at all. Going into camp, I only knew a couple of people, which meant we had to quickly learn how to work together and become comfortable with new people. We spent the entire day together participating in activities that were each led by different members of our family. Some activities required us to lead individually by guiding our own group, while others allowed our family group to work together to lead the entire camp. This structure created an environment where we could support one another, build confidence, and help each other grow into stronger leaders. By the end of the week, the people who started as strangers became great friends. Going into the experience, I was very skeptical and honestly dreading it, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I am really glad I went because it pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me feel more confident and comfortable stepping into leadership roles.
Before attending Camp Brosius, I took the CliftonStrengths assessment and learned what my top strengths were. Throughout the week, I was able to intentionally apply those strengths during activities and leadership opportunities, which helped me better understand how I naturally lead and how I can use my strengths to be a more effective and confident leader.
Clifton Strengths Assessment
Before camp, I completed the CliftonStrengths assessment and identified my Top 5 strengths: Harmony, Discipline, Consistency, Maximizer, and Responsibility. Discipline stood out to me the most because I thrive in structured environments and do my best work when I have clear expectations, instructions, and a schedule to follow. Harmony also fits me well, as I value making sure everyone feels comfortable and heard, and I naturally work to try to create a positive, cooperative environment. Consistency connects to my preference for routine and stability, which helps me stay focused and productive. Responsibility reflects my strong sense of accountability, as I take commitments seriously and can be relied on to follow through on tasks, often motivating myself to get things done without being reminded. Maximizer was the strength I was least aware of at first, but I came to see it as a valuable skill that allows me to help myself and others build on existing strengths and strive for improvement.
